We pride ourselves everyday on creating something beautiful with great attention to detail. This project represented just that!
My sister was looking for a rustic 3 tiered cake stand for her upcoming wedding this year. I knew just the person who would do a more superior job than anything else we sourced online. I asked Mike Ratcliffe, our Creative Director if he could design and construct a completely bespoke cake stand that would be different to any other. The brief I gave him was very vague, it needed to be made out of wood and have 3 tiers ideally. Mike’s response was “leave it with me!”
Mike owns an olive farm in Spain, the wooden discs had been cut from the olive trees and have been drying out since last summer to ensure they didn’t crack. He went ahead and begun to build in his garage once they were ready. He decided to use wrought iron to hold the stand together, this was heated, screwed into a vice and twisted to create a more striking look. The heart was made out of square wrought iron, which had been forged and twisted to create a heart shape. The iron was drilled and forged into the wooden discs to piece it together and finally teak oiled to darken the grains of the olive wood. His creative eye and intense attention to detail led him to design and produce a truly magnificent piece of work.

This isn’t just a cake stand, this is a rustic, unique centrepiece that will be kept forever as a memory of a wonderful day and creative thinking all the way to execution at its best.
